Our History
God gave Lori and Pierre Lucien the vision of Give Us Hope mission in July 2012 on a vacation to Haiti when Lori went to see her husband's homeland for the first time. While she was there, God impressed upon the hearts of Pierre and Lori to start their own mission to help build up the country of Haiti and teach Haiti to hope in Christ--not voodoo.
While in Haiti, Pierre and Lori visited a small community of children. Two years after the earthquake, many of the children still needed soap, clothes, shoes, and potable water. Families were weak from hunger and dehydration. The families could see no way out of their situation because they could not afford to give their children an education.
The parents asked Pierre and Lori if they could help their children go to school. As a crowd of children stared at Pierre and Lori with new-found-hope in their eyes--the mission was born. The name of the mission came from the request the children asked of Pierre and Lori: "Give us hope."
After returning from Haiti in July, God brought witnesses into Pierre and Lori's lives to speak about the assignment God had for Give Us Hope Mission. One prophet was Pastor John Gray. Pastor Gray is the pastor at Redemption Church in Greenville, SC. He spoke at an evening service in Dothan, AL in August 2012. He told the congregation to get their passports because God was going to call them to serve across the world! He spoke directly to Pierre; telling him he was going to minister to the world.
Give Us Hope Mission is unique because God appointed the leaders of the ministry. They know the culture, the bureaucracy, and the needs of Haiti. Most importantly, they follow Christ. The goal of any Christian mission is to bring people into relationship with Jesus and for the community the mission serves to become self-sufficient. Give Us Hope Mission is led by people from Haiti that God has blessed. God has told Pierre to take His blessings bestowed upon him and give it back to his homeland.
The leaders of Give Us Hope Mission will not stop trying to bring hope to Haiti through Christ until God says: "Well done good and faithful servant."
